zero-carbon community energy

Greener Schools Programme: En10ergy works with Haringey Council

October 28, 2025 By Alex Leave a Comment

En10ergy has recently entered into a partnership with Haringey Borough Council to help deliver a grant that the council has received under the Greener Schools Programme.

The Mayor of London wants to help schools in London reach net zero as part of his ambition for a zero carbon London by 2030.

Building on other funding, the Greener Schools pilot scheme will trial different approaches to decarbonising London schools through work with boroughs, schools, young Londoners and local communities.

The pilot will explore how schools can:

  • save on their energy bills to spend more money on their core education mission
  • become a big source of energy generation in London. Taken together, the rooftops of London’s schools could produce as much energy as a new power station
  • become more energy efficient and resilient to climate change to help prevent lost days of schooling.

Haringey has applied for and received funding for solar panels on three schools in the borough – the Brook Special Primary school, The Willow Primary School and Risley Avenue Primary School. There will also be replacement of lighting with LEDs at Risley Avenue Primary School.

En10ergy will be providing technical expertise for the installation of the solar panels and LED lighting. More significantly, it will be managing the engagement with staff and pupils at the schools in the programme, looking at possible models for fundraising and how to raise awareness of climate issues with parents, pupils and local community groups.

Pamela Harling, company secretary, has taken on the role of Greener Schools Project Coordinator. She has a professional background in grant administration and has been a keen supporter of community energy since 2010. She will be working closely with our part time project manager and will be responsible for networking with local community groups, organising the schools workshops and reporting back on these and helping with the final report from the project.

En10ergy is always looking for opportunities to work with local community groups to promote collaboration to increase solar power and energy saving in the Borough. Do get in touch if you would like to know more.
